Some Signs That Your Child Is Being Sexually Abused



Child sexual abuse (CSA) is when a child becomes a sexual partner for an adult and/or is being engaged by an adult in some explicit activities. The Nigeria media in recent times have reported an increased number of child abuse and those are the once that are able to get to the media.

Most parents get so busy or at random decide to leave their kid(s) in care of house helps, neighbor, relatives, friends, or even teachers who may abuse them. Older kids may not report the abuse, because they are scared of or want to protect their abuser and/or they simply do not believe they will be taken seriously.

As a parent, you have to always look out for signs of your child being abused especially when s/he enjoys being around a particular adult. Keep in mind that, though, depending on the abuse type, some kids might be enjoying it thereby having a bond with the abuser.

This should trigger you to always check your child for signs of abuse immediately such adults comes around your child.


Signs that your child is being sexually abused

1. Your child suddenly finding it difficult to walk or sit, maybe due to genital or anal pain.

Be quick to examine why a child who was perfectly okay, all of a sudden is finding it difficult to walk or sit. Do this by checking his/her privates.

2. The person you left your child with gives you unconvincing/conflicting explanations for bruises/injuries on your child.

3. That neighbor, friend or relative that likes spending time alone with your child.

4. Be wary of someone who buys your child expensive gifts for no special reason.

5. Someone your child afraid of and/or do not want to be alone with.


These and many others should raise your suspicion that your child is being abused sexually. If you have any additional signs, drop them below for the benefit of all.
